Libby Bakken

MS Career Consultant - Business and Marketing Analytics

Libby returned to the Career Management Center this summer after working as a private career coach and professional development consultant. Before that she worked in the Simon CMC as Assistant Director of Professional Development for several years. In her current assignment, Libby works primarily with MS students in our Business Analytics and Marketing Analytics programs. Libby spent a number of years in Human Resources roles and in Leadership Development consulting. She served as the first Human Resources Director for Harris Interactive, a custom market research firm headquartered in Rochester that has been acquired by Nielsen.

She began her career in human resources at the Harvard Business School and also worked in talent acquisition, employee relations and professional development within the financial services industry in Boston, MA. She has an undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan (Go Blue!), an MA from Boston University, and a Certificate in Organizational Development from a program offered in cooperation with DePaul University and Linkage, Inc.

Libby coaches students at every stage of the career assessment and job search process. She is adept at helping students with all aspects of job interviewing but especially in helping students identify the elements of their background and skills to highlight as they pursue a specific opportunity. She  helps students craft compelling, customized letters that showcase the skills most related to the job at hand. She lives in the Bushnell’s Basin area of Pittsford, close to the Erie Canal, with her husband, a marketing science consultant, and a big, beautiful black cat, named Zelda, where she enjoys gardening, birdwatching and reading. Using the SimonWorks platform is the best way to set up time to meet with Libby and she looks forward to seeing you soon!
