Kathy has been in career management for many years, helping individuals of all ages and backgrounds with career planning and job search at a Rochester area career services agency before joining Simon four years ago.Besides working with MS students – and planning programs -- at Simon, she also works for the Ain Center for Entrepreneurship, providing career services to students in the MS in Technical Entrepreneurship and Management Program (TEAM), a joint program of Simon and Hajim School of Engineering.
She assists MS students from all programs with resumes, cover letters and search strategies and she especially enjoys helping them with the career exploration process, using assessments and other tools to encourage them to explore their options. She also enjoys working with students who are interested in entrepreneurial ventures. She has an extensive background as a writer and editor, working at Gannett Corp., and then later as a freelance writer, contributing to a wide variety of corporate and professional publications and websites.
She taught Business Communications at St. John Fisher College, where she helped students launch a new publication, the Cardinal Courier. She writes a regular column for the Rochester Business Journal. She holds a master’s degree from Syracuse University, has studied counseling at the state University College at Brockport and holds a certificate in Adult Career Transition Coaching. She and her husband, John, owner of an advertising agency in Rochester, live in Pittsford, NY and have two sons. In her spare time, she enjoys baking, travel and swimming.
