Bio

My teaching and reĀ­search interests include business analytics, organizational issues in management of information systems, the information technology industry and financial information systems. I have won three Best Paper Awards for research, done in collaboration with colleagues at the Simon School, in the use of information systems standards in organizations, redesign of business processes and management of Web sites. My current research interests include decision and business analytics, marketing on the Internet, the Internet industry, strategic use of technology, the use of standards in managing information systems, and accounting and financial information systems. My papers have appeared in the Journal ofComputing, Management Science, Decision Support Systemsand IEEE Transactions on Computers, among other journals.

Teaching Interests

My background in technology and economics gives me particular strength in teaching inter-disciplinary courses such as Business Analytics, Economics of Information Management and Financial Information Systems. Matching my research in Ecommerce and Internet, I have taught Intro. to Business Analytics, Managing Electronic Commerce Technology, Marketing on the Internet, and Electronic Commerce Strategy.

Research Interests

I am primarily interested in business analytics, and analyzing organizational and industrial organization issues in Information systems and technology area. My primary reference discipline is economics. I am currently working on a project on decision analytics in the health care area. I also do research in markets for digital goods and services. They range from access provider - content provider competition, creation of portal web sites, web page design, nature of on-line advertising and hybrid search mechanisms. I have worked on Workflow design and organizational standards in the last couple of years.

Current Research Programs

Effect of Classification Errors on Screening Equilibria
In this work we look at the effect of errors in classification of a consumer on screening equilibria. Whether the firm knows about the possibility of error makes a difference in the contracts and outcomes.
Urgent Care Ownership and Location
We are examining the location and pricing of urgent care centers vis a vis emergency department locations. The key issue is that the while an ED is a full service acute care facility, the UC is not. The patients choose with error. We examine the effect of error on the economic equilibrium.
