The challenges posed by financial economics are very different from those Philip Myers faced in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. After four years in the US Air Force as an Arabic translator, Philip left the military in 2007 to go to law school—a career he became interested in as a teenager. Philip soon realized he preferred business management to litigation. His affinity for finance led him to Simon.

“I was looking for two things in a business school: one that would put me in a great position to land an internship and a job, and one that would prepare me to succeed once I got that job,” Philip explains. “Simon offered both.”

As a career changer, Philip felt that he needed a school noted for academic excellence that could help him stand out among graduates from other business schools. “I needed a school that wasn’t just going to give me a standard MBA, but one that could help me perform at a higher level than my peers,” Philip says. “Simon has given me that confidence as I approach my internship this summer at Bank of America.”

The Simon Career Management Center identified Philip for the internship opportunity, and that personalized attention meant a lot to him. “If I could have named a program that I would like to work for, this would be in the top few,” Philip says. “It’s everything that I’m looking for, and Simon helped me get there.”
